Public Transportation

TTC: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is a fast, easy and safe way to get around Toronto. The subway system connects with bus, streetcar and light rail transit to get you anywhere on one fare, provided it's a one-way trip with no stopovers. You can travel on the TTC everyday.

WheelTrans: Wheel-Trans provides door-to-door transit service for the City of Toronto for people in wheelchairs. Service runs 7 days a week, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. and weekends 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fares are the same as regular TTC fares for adults, seniors, students and children.

GO Transit: GO Transit is an Ontario interregional public transit system linking Toronto with the surrounding regions of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). GO services over 43 million passengers a year in an extensive network of trains and buses. One of North America's premier transportation systems, GO Transit provides safe, convenient, and efficient transportation to the communities of the Toronto area.

Bicycling and Bike Safety

Bicycles are an excellent way to get around in Toronto, and the city has hundreds of miles of recreational bicycle paths. While only children and young adults under the age of 19 are required to wear bicycle helmets, we strongly urge you to wear a helmet whenever you are cycling. Bicycles with wheels larger than 61 cm (24 inches) are prohibited from riding City sidewalks. The intent of this bylaw is to allow young children to cycle on the sidewalk while they are learning to ride, and to keep adult cyclists on the street so that sidewalks are safer for pedestrians.

Taxis

Toronto has several large taxi companies available for use 24 hours a day. While Toronto taxis come in many different colors, they all have a light with the word "Taxi" on top. When the light is on, the taxi is available. Rates start at $2.50 CDN, then $0.25 for each fifth of a kilometre. At the airport, taxis are waiting outside the Arrivals terminal. Taxis can be hailed at all other locations. Maximum of three passengers without a rate change.

New Shuttle Bus Service

From Seneca Residence to Markham & York campuses

Starting September 2009, the Seneca College Residence will offer free shuttle bus service to residents who attend Seneca’s Markham and York Campuses. This shuttle service is being provided in support of the student life experience, and offers a free and convenient alternative to public transit. Service will run continuously between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday. Schedules are being developed during the summer with continued input from the student population and with the goal of creating a convenient method of transportation to and from these campuses.
