Subject Title
Spa Business Operations II

Subject Description
In this course students will continue to examine the ways in which a spa operates as a business to meet the financial objectives of a Spa owner.  The role of the esthetician within the spa operation and how their performance impacts the success of a Spa will be further explored.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

  1. Describe facility management and why it is important to a spa business;
  2. Research and assess a piece of equipment and product line based on criteria developed for a vendor;
  3. Identify, explain and calculate essential financial statements used for spa management;
  4. Apply forecasting and budgetary controls to establish an operting budget that will achieve the spa's financial goals;
  5. Describe the purpose of inventory management in successful retail planning and make calculations desiged to create an effective inventory management system;
  6. Develop and implement a basic marketing plan;
  7. Apply knowledge of interview techniques in an interview setting;
