Subject Title
Advanced Camera and Lighting

Subject Description
This subject is designed to refine the student's lighting skills for video and television production. The emphasis is placed on advanced field and studio lighting techniques. Through in-depth study of how light interacts with various lensing combinations and equipment, in-class demonstrations, and practical assignments, students will gain a more refined understanding and practical knowledge of how to light in situations ranging from interviews to dramatic productions.

Pre-requisites: RTV 200 and RTV 362.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

General:

1. Identify and apply the principles of lighting for video and television.

1. Differentiate between different types of lighting and grip equipment.

2. Differentiate and select appropriate equipment to achieve a desired effect.

3. Measure light levels using both "lux" and "foot-candles".

4. Manipulate light colour to affect the mood of a scene.

5. Combine different lens, light level, and filtration variables to produce desired and appropriate images.

6. Apply the theory of motivated lighting.

Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems.
