This subject explores the concepts and calculations necessary for operating a profitable retail business. Students will learn how to use math to assist in better decision making. They will develop analytical techniques for interpreting and responding to financial data.

Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Apply basic mathematical calculations to solve practical business problems.
2. Practice break even analysis to detemine the revenue needed to cover expenses.
3. Demonstrate the ability to solve problems related to cost, retail and mark up figures.
4. Calculate quantity and cash discounts on orders with suppliers.
5. Complete and interpret an income statement.
