Subject Title
Human Development II

Subject Description
In this course, students will be introduced to various developmental theories from adolescence to the point of death and dying. Students will be introduced to the continuum of domains that are available when making assessments about behaviour and gain an understanding of when skills emerge in typical development in youth, adulthood, and those that occur for the older adult. The emergence of skills will be explored across physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional domains with an emphasis on observable actions.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

  1. Analyze the impact of using a stage approach to development with adolescents and adults.
  2. Explain development through a variety of theoretical lenses.
  3. Classify observable skills in relation to developmental domains.
  4. Identify the range of typical and atypical human development.
  5. Describe the nature-nurture debate and the significance for development.
