Introduction to Internship

Subject Description
This subject covers the basic principles of working in an Academic Internship setting.  Students are introduced to internship principles such as learning to work as a team member, apply the principles of leadership, time-management, work with a client as an external project sponsor and prepare a Project Charter.  Faculty will review all documents prior to transmitting to the sponsor to ensure adherence with Seneca's policies

Credit Status
One subject credit. If a student successfully completes PME104 but fails to pass PME400 in the subsequent semester, then the student must retake and successfully complete PME104 before he/she can retake PME400.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

  1. Explain the fundamental principles of a project charter;
  2. Create a Project Charter using a series of communication, time management and negotiation techniques with various stakeholders;
  3. Present a collaborative document based on the goals of the client from collected data using current project management standards;
  4. Work as a member of a team to achieve project goals and objectives in all related tasks.
