Subject Title
Management II

Subject Description
This course prepares students to evaluate and manage organizational assets to support strategic objectives within organizations.  The students are introduced to how value is created across the organization and how evidence-based decision-making models enable managers to apply the principles of management science to common management tasks and outcomes through the use of standardized frameworks.  The students undertake a detailed investigation of the four functions of management: planning, organizing, leading and controlling.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Describe planning, organizing, leading and controlling in each functional area within an organization. 
2. Examine how the needs of internal and external stakeholders contribute to the value creation process and inform business strategies.
3. Discuss the contribution of each internal functional area to value creation.
4. Interpret operational and tactical plans using accounting information, financial statements, and key business analytics.
5. Describe the role of the budgeting process in managing business objectives.
6. Recommend strategies to safeguard assets using principles of internal control.
7. Apply evidence-based decision making models to support human resource needs and common management tasks.
8. Identify the role and impact of labour relations and collective bargaining on the organization’s ability to manage the workplace.
