Event Planning and Logistics

Subject Description
How can you ensure an event will run smoothly? Or better yet, plan for unexpected disasters? Event planning and logistics examines all aspects of the event including event production, coordination, liability, risk management, and ethics.  Students will identify and create the essential documents required for a seamless event installation.  By applying the best practices of event planning, students will execute actual events.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

  1. Assess the role and level of event logistics required to produce a successful event;
  2. Identify the resources available and the timing required to ensure seamless event planning and execution;
  3. Conduct site inspections to determine the appropriateness and viability of a venue against the event's objectives;
  4. Synthesize information from a multitude of sources to accurately develop a series of required schedules for social, corporate and charity events;
  5. Construct contingency plans to address identified event risks and liabilities;
  6. Identify contractual needs and permits required to hire entertainers, vendors and venues;
  7. Execute the installation of various events and exhibits to meet client needs;
  8. Apply ethical practices in conducting business with clients and event partners: suppliers, sponsors, etc.
