Web Development I

Subject Description
INM220 will introduce students to the dynamic and ever evolving field of Website Development. Web development requires logical thinking and attention to detail, as well as knowledge of basic graphic design, typography, colour, image formats and use as they apply to websites. Browser and cross-platform issues will also be discussed. Students will continue to add to their knowledge of, and experience with, HTML and CSS coding and best practices, which they were introduced to in the 1st semester. In addition, basic JavaScript concepts and application will be introduced. They will also receive training in the use of web development tools and resources.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Create a website with website development tools
2. Demonstrate how to set up correct page structure using HTML5 elements.
3. Explain how to format and position content with Cascading Style Sheets.
4. Publish a website using FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
5. Demonstrate a knowledge of basic HTML,CSS and JavaScript concepts and use by completing assignments, in-class labs andpassing tests.
