Subject Title
Intercultural Behaviour and Communication

Subject Description
This subject examines how intercultural communication can positively influence the conduct of international business. It will provide a comprehensive look at the concept of culture, what generalizations hold true for all cultures, and the implications of those generalizations for international business. This course involves discussions of how and where to find the specific cultural information needed for any particular international business assignment.

Credit Status
One credit towards the International Business and International Business Administration Diploma Programs.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

  1. Apply the principles of motivation and leadership in the analysis of teams in cross-cultural environments.
  1. Explain the role of verbal and non-verbal communication and customs for global etiquette.
  1. Discuss the impact of culture shock on international business communication.
  1. Examine conflict resolution strategies used in intra/intercultural negotiations.
  1. Analyze business protocols and social customs across major world cultures.
  1. Create a country project in multicultural teams on effective business communication.
