Current and Future Trends

Subject Description
This course will identify and investigate current trends leading to future directions in graphic design. Students will learn how these trends affect technology, business, people, culture and policy. Students will focus and explore a significant or emerging area in visual communications through in-class exercises, projects and presentations.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Identify trends in visual communications.
2. Identify trends in modern typographic design.
3. Connect and communicate the impact of trends and patterns from the present to the future.
4. Explore in detail an emerging trend within graphic design.
5. Demonstrate and communicate an understanding of a current trend.
6. Develop the ability to acquire knowledge through self-directed learning.
