Subject Title
Business Launch

Subject Description
This course will provide students with the practical skills they need to successfully launch a business.  Students will assess an existing business plan and apply knowledge gained from previous business courses to develop a step-by-step implementation plan for the start-up and initial operation of that business.  Upon completion, each student will have a comprehensive resource with supporting materials that covers all aspects of launching a business from registering its name to depositing its first receivables.

Credit Status
One credit.

Note:  This is a required credit course for the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Specialization and a professional option for the other business specializations within the Business Administration Diploma.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

  1. Prepare a step-by-step implementation plan leading up to the launch date and into the first year of a start-up business.
  2. Adopt communication techniques and professional ethics to interact with business service providers
  3. Explain the legal, financial and location requirements of a start-up
  4. Create a business manual of Human Resources, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Operations policies and procedures while applying Corporate Social Responsibility and best business practices
  5. Apply digital communication theories and techniques to create a plan that supports a strong on-line presence.
