Field Placement I

Subject Description
This Fieldwork Placement allows students to experience the implementation of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based techniques and interventions in a practical setting. In this placement, students will work in a setting that offers a clinical application of behavioural sciences in the field. Possible agency settings for this field placement might include group homes, autism agencies, correctional facilities, or rehabilitation centres. Students will be encouraged to seek a field placement which fits with their career interests and employment goals.

Credit Status
This is a required course in the BHS diploma progra.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

General Outcomes:  By the end of the semester, students will have demonstrated an ability to successfully meet the professional obligations of participating in a field practicum.
Specific Outcomes:  At the end of the semester students will be able:
LO 1.To demonstrate the ability to meet the professional obligations of punctuality and attendance in their field placement
LO 2.To exhibit professional behaviour in their social interactions and communications in the field
LO 3.To maintain appropriate boundaries with clients in a field placement setting.
LO 4.To demonstrate respect and sensitivity towards clients in a professional capacity.
LO 5.To implement the principles and techniques of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), as directed by their field placement supervisor
LO 6.To adhere successfully to the policies, procedures and protocols of their hosting agency
