Become a front end web developer in 14 weeks.
Talented, professionally trained web designers and developers are in demand. Employers recognize that Seneca's accredited college certificate program trains you to build effective, dynamic and responsive web sites that respond to the needs of business.
Students gain real world experience completing a web site for a real world client. This intensive program is a 14-week online synchronous class, offered in January and September. Classes run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lecture hours from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Faculty are available during the afternoon until 4 p.m.
Participants become proficient at designing and building web sites incorporating HTML, CSS, mobile and responsive design, SASS, GitHub, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, WordPress, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Students must have a strong computer aptitude. No prior coding experience is required for this course.

There's a reason Photoshop is the world's industry standard in image-editing software - the depth and breadth of the program is unheralded. Photoshop allows the user (novice or expert) to create and manipulate images with a freedom that is only bound by the imagination. In this intensive course students learn essential graphic manipulation, visualization and composition techniques. |

Learn the fundamental concepts of JavaScript that form the foundation for web programming and mobile development. Students learn how to design and deploy sophisticated user-interfaces and powerful modern dynamic web pages. Particular focus is given to jQuery. |

As websites grow more and more complicated, Content Management Systems (CMS) become a needed reality of modern web development. This module looks at WordPress and investigates the strengths and weaknesses of using a CMS as an approach to web development, including PHP and server side programming. |

Students learn how to approach website design as a project. They learn how to research their client's industry, different ways to organize, plan, and design a website, how work is to be sequenced (work flow protocols), what well-designed sites should look like (heuristics), organizing content (information architecture), cost estimating, setting up and running your web design business, communication skills, and conflict resolution. |

The Web Design and Development program is offered twice per year starting January and September.
The tuition fee for the 14-week course is $6,497.27.
All learning materials (textbooks) are included in the fees.
